I've missed this

Hi friends, I'm back! And I'm waving hello to those of you who joined during my hiatus and are getting your first Sketching Adventures email!

Hummingbird.

That was my brain’s default speed this summer.

Fluttering faster than I could think.
Zipping around on a sugar high.
Blurring my reality.

Between the constant evolution of AI, an ever-changing world, and a life that’s packed full of goodness, it sometimes feels hard to keep up.

Not to mention all the things we can blindly click on these days.

Attention? Calm? You still out there?

My speedy brain needs a massage.

A chance to recalibrate, slow down, process.

So I've started visualizing this when I meditate:

Healing hands on my brain.
Massaging deeply.
Melting away the tightness.
Releasing the tension.
Softening.
Expanding.
Becoming a true pile of calm brainy mush.

Let those sore thinking muscles rest, and give those click-happy thumbs a break.

The world isn’t going to stop moving forward.

So we gotta make sure we take care of that pile of mush in our skull and pause to look around every once in a while.

Cue Ferris Bueller.

It’s often when we take the time to soften, expand and allow in a little calm that the magic happens.

So I'm taking my own advice and pressing pause on the to-do list to reconnect with you.

Because it’s been a minute, and I've missed Sketching Adventures and my There’s No One Way podcast. Aiming to get both back on track this fall. (Hold me to it!)

Have you felt this flutter-fast speed of life lately? I’d love to know where you’re at.

And if you do take a break, there’s plenty of sugar water to go around when you’re ready to get zippy again.

P.S. – It's so good to be back. Can't thank you enough for being here!

Wondering what I've been up to? Here’s a snippet:

Life-wise: Lots of nature and mountain time in our home state of Colorado, plus my husband and I checked off a wishlist trip to Scotland – endless lochs, mountains and even turquoise water and white sand beaches.

Work-wise: I’ve been deep in Creative Partnerships the past couple years. It’s been fulfilling and inspiring to combine my 20 years of creative and solopreneur experience with my certified coaching skills. And wow, these clients are such amazing humans. I'm truly honored to be a part of their evolution!

There’s no one way. The amount of times I’ve said that — that we’ve all said that — infinite, right? For me, it often comes up around health, wellness, business or mindset. There’s no one way… to eat healthy (100% paleo is not for me) to get fit (burpees on the daily are a big no thank you) to do business (social media is my frenemy, referrals are my bestie) to be creative (hello, silly sketches) to live (relationships + nature + adventure + time = me) to be ready (moving on from perfection,...

turtle graphic and words embrace your pace

Playing outside, client projects, and an amazing 2.5-week British Columbia road trip. That sums up my summer so far. How about you? Now that I'm back, I wanted to share this with you ASAP! This Monday, August 25th, 5:30pm MT / 7:30pm ET, I'm joining my friend Kate Kendall for a live conversation about authenticity, career pivots, and the magic of the messy middle. I’ve admired Kate’s work since discovering her empowering, insightful yoga classes on Gaia.com back in 2014. These days, our...

What if you did the brave thing… And chose growth over comfort. Would it feel: Wise? Empowering? Inspiring? Or… Exhausting? Vulnerable? Facepalming? (It’s an adjective now.) What if it was all of the above? That’s how it’s felt for me the past year: Soaring highs and recharge-on-the-couch lows. One day I’m the bird cruising a floaty breeze. The next? I’m the bird huddled in the nest going “nah, that’s too windy.” Maybe that’s just the flight path of growth. Updrafts, sunshine — and wind...
